Message from Jay Callan

The mission of Fire Safety, a division of the Environmental Health and Safety Office is to design and deliver programs and services that will reduce the risk of fire at George Mason University.

Programs and services include:

  • Regular inspection and testing of all building fire protection systems.
  • Fire prevention inspections of all buildings.
  • Fire drills.
  • Development of building evacuation plans.
  • Installation, inspection and testing of portable fire extinguishers.
  • Training in the use of fire protection systems, including portable fire extinguishers.
  • Fire cause investigation.
  • Specialized training for student-residents.
